I just had my 4th baby nine months ago! I can’t believe I’m even typing that out! Nine months seems so short yet so long. This postpartum period has been my absolute smoothest and most pleasant postpartum and I attribute that to being well prepared.
Being prepared in postpartum isn’t just about having the right supplies on hand but also about having those supplies well organized and accessible so that you can get to them when needed with little effort. Ideally, without having to get out of bed! I found the easiest thing to use for this was a rolling 3-tiered cart. I was able to have the cart by my bed but move it out of the way easily. I could also take the cart with me if I chose to relocate my postpartum nest like moving from my bed to the couch.
Here are some great ideas to keep in your easy-access postpartum cart:
For Breastfeeding:
- Nursing pads
- Siverette Nipple Covers
- Nipple ointment or Tallow
- Hakka / milk catcher
- Lactations Supplements – sunflower lecithin, ox bile, and Free the Flow tincture
For Mom
- Easy one-handed snacks
- Hair tie
- Chap Stick
- Unscented lotion or Tallow
- Hair claw clip
- Water bottle (with a straw)
- Adult Diapers or period underwear
- Pads
- Arnica Salve
For Baby
- Wipes
- Diapers
- Burp Cloths
- Extra onesie
- Receiving blanket
- Diaper cream or Tallow
- Saline mist
- Nose Frida
- Pacifier and clip
As my baby has gotten older, the cart has been repurposed into a night-time-nursing and toy cart. I love that he is able to reach the bottom tier as he’s crawling and pulling up, but the top tier is still out of his reach so I can keep diaper supplies, creams, and lactation supplements on it.
Honestly, the cart is truly worth the hype and worth the price!
