Spring is finally here, and it’s time to get outside and enjoy the nice weather. If you are over the winter and being indoors like me, here are some fun, kid-friendly spring activities.
Visit a zoo or Farm
The zoo is always a big hit with my kids, regardless of age. We are about to have spring break, and it is definitely on my list of things to do. Whenever we go to the zoo, we stock up on snacks and bring lunch with us so that we can stay the whole day. There is so much to see that spending the day is worth it to hit all the different areas there is to see. It is also fun for the kids to learn about all kinds of animals, and they get to see them up close. This spring, I’m looking to take my kids to a farm as well since we have not done that yet. It is a different experience than the zoo but also fun and educational.
Visit a garden
We have a botanical garden that is fairly close to our house that we have a season pass to, and in the past, we have spent so much time there that we can’t wait for our first visit this spring. If you don’t have a botanical garden in your area, I’m sure there is one that you can visit. It will be fun for the kids to see flowers in bloom and learn all about plants.
Have a picnic
Pack a lunch or even dinner and head to a park or your backyard. It will change the scenery for that meal, get you outside in the fresh air, and leave you with no dishes later, so it’s a win-win. My kids are big fans of bento box lunches and snackle boxes when we are out and about. You can fill them with some fun foods and snacks.
Plant a Garden
Spring is the perfect time for gardening. Kids love to get messy and dig in the dirt, so why not let them do so for a good cause, a garden? Pick out some fun, easy plants, and get planting! We read a kids’ book about plants and having a garden, and my kids thought it was so cool! We are planning to get some plants this coming weekend and set up a garden in our backyard. You don’t need to set up a large garden, you can even have some plants in pots if you don’t want them in the ground. A small herb garden would be easy to take care of. Having your littles in charge of watering the plants gives them a task in helping your plants thrive!
Spring is one of the best times of the year because it’s finally not cold and it’s not too hot yet, so take full advantage of it! There are so many fun, kid-friendly spring activities to do. What are you going to do first?
