I can’t believe it’s already been a year. One full trip around the sun with your little one—and what a wild ride it’s been. Honestly, it feels like just yesterday we were talking about all the “what-ifs” before the baby arrived. You know, the kind of conversations where you pretend like you have everything figured out, but deep down you’re just holding your breath and wondering how much your life is going to change. Well, here we are. Twelve months later. I just want to say, you’ve done amazing.

It’s hard to really prepare for the transformation that happens when you become a mother. You can read all the books, take all the classes, and get all the advice in the world, but nothing really prepares you for the moment when you first hold your baby and realize, “Oh my gosh, this is my whole world now.”

Watching you this year has been nothing short of inspiring. From those early days when every nap felt like a small victory, to now—seeing your baby’s first steps, hearing that first real giggle, seeing the first flickers of a personality emerge—it’s been a privilege to witness. And through it all, I’ve seen something even more incredible: your transformation into motherhood.

That shift from “just you” to “you and baby” is something no one really talks about enough. It’s all about learning to share your heart (and your sleep schedule) with another tiny human. The way you’ve embraced it, though, has been nothing short of beautiful. The new kind of love that blossomed between you and your little one doesn’t look anything like what you imagined it would, yet somehow, it’s everything you’ve always dreamed of.

I think the most incredible thing about the first year is how you slowly discover that you change in ways you never expected. It’s the way you learn to function on less sleep than you ever thought was humanly possible, how your heart expands in ways you couldn’t have imagined, and how you discover inner reserves of patience you didn’t know you had. It’s the small moments—those sweet snuggles, the quiet “I got this” moments when your baby looks up at you with a face full of trust—that make you realize, with total certainty, you’re doing it. You’ve made the transformation from woman to mother, and it’s more than just a title; it’s a whole new part of you that’s blossomed in ways you didn’t even know were possible.

And, let’s be real, there have definitely been moments of total chaos (we both know about the late-night Google searches and the “why is this happening?!” freak-outs), but through it all, you’ve handled it with grace and humor. You’ve learned how to juggle it all—dirty diapers, spilled milk, and those toddler tantrums on the horizon—while somehow still managing to keep your own sense of self intact. It’s no small feat, my friend, and I’m so proud of how you’ve grown into this new chapter of your life.

And your little one? They’ve been soaking it all up. Every little thing you’ve done, every ounce of love you’ve poured into them, they feel it. I can already tell that they’re going to grow up with the kind of strength, kindness, and resilience that only a mama like you could instill. The way they look at you—like you’re their everything- is proof of the deep bond that’s formed between you two. It’s a bond that will continue to grow as they take on the world, but it all started with that first moment when you held them in your arms and made them feel safe and loved.

So, on this beautiful milestone—your baby’s first birthday—I just want to say thank you. Thank you for sharing this whirlwind journey with me. Thank you for showing me what it looks like to become a mother, not just in the big moments but in the quiet, everyday ones too. You’ve turned motherhood into something magical, and it’s been a privilege to watch.

Here’s to the next year, filled with even more firsts: more giggles, more messy moments, and more lessons learned along the way. I can’t wait to see how your little one grows, and I can’t wait to see how you continue to blossom in this role of “mom.” I have no doubt that the next chapter is going to be just as beautiful and transformational as the first.

Happy first birthday to your little one—and to you, mama. You’ve absolutely got this
