We’ve recently announced that we’re expecting our second baby- yay! Looking back on this first trimester, things were totally different then when I was expecting our first. Long gone are the days when morning sickness meant a nap on the couch. Having a toddler to take care of is a whole new ballgame battling 1st trimester ailments. Here is what helped me through the initial weeks until I got to feeling better!

Plan ahead– grab some easy breakfast items, setting out daycare clothes in advance or tackling to-dos when you are feeling okay will majorly help with those moments of nausea or exhaustion.
Be flexible– I had to flex a little on rules about screen time during some weeks where it was a struggle to keep my eyes open. Baby G will be fine with a little extra Bluey here and there.
Ask for help- This is a hard one for me to do, but if you need help from your partner or a close friend getting something done during this time don’t feel bad asking! This could be as simple as sitting with your toddler during dinnertime while you take ten minutes to get some fresh air.

Nap– I am not a napper but found myself napping when Baby G did a lot during my first trimester. I let workouts, laundry and dishes wait and opted to give my body some much needed rest while the opportunity was there.
Don’t stress about your diet- I had so many food aversions this time around eating anything was difficult. Most of my diet consisted of ramen, butter toast, potato chips and occasionally some pizza. It is okay! Eat what you can and continue taking your prenatal vitamin. You’ll have lots of time to fuel with nutritious foods once the first trimester has passed!
