Do you have a toddler starting school for the first time? Whether it’s a Mother’s Morning out, full time daycare or Montessori setting here are some essentials to prepare both Mom and Toddler!
Comfy Cubby Clothes
No matter what program your little one is going to attend having some go to comfy backup clothes in their cubby is a MUST. Likely your little one will need backup outfits for a number of reasons such as potty training, general messes, and just little accidents like spilling their chocolate milk or even jumping in muddy puddles on the playground. Having weather appropriate, comfy clothes is essential and Caden Lane has so many amazing choices that I am stocking up on for Back to School 2024.

Cute Backpack
I just ordered my son’s backpack for his Mother’s morning out program and while it doesn’t start until September, I bought it early for a few reasons. First, I want him to get used to carrying his backpack and practice zipping and unzipping his backpack. Second, I love to shop sales so I bought it over the 4th Holiday, when there was a great promotional discount on Caden Lane.
I love buying the toddler size backpacks because they are the perfect size for preschoolers and honestly my kids interests change from preschool to Elementary so I know I’ll need to get a new one before Kindergarten anyway. The Caden Lane diaper bag I own has held up so well so I’m confident these new backpacks will as well.
My little guy loves anything he can throw these days so I know he will love this cute sports print with all his favorites! I love the idea of taking this backpack and getting his name monogrammed on it locally. Yet another reason to order early!

How beautiful and timeless is this floral pattern for a little girl! Seriously you can’t go wrong with the quality and functionality of these backpacks.
Bento Style Lunchboxes
My go to lunchbox is Bentgo because they offer so many compartments to put sandwiches, fruit, and veggies! I think it’s a great way to involve toddler’s in back to school prep is to have them help fill these with their favorites and then practice eating lunch out of their boxes. Specifically it’s fun to work with them on opening them and using their hands and utensils to eat lunch given this may be new to them. These boxes come in so many beautiful colors and designs. They are also amazing for holding sauces without leakage!
Personalized Water Bottle
Keeping your littles hydrated whether at school or home is so important! Save yourself from having to add tape to water bottles everyday by purchasing a Personalized Water Bottle with the cutest designs so your little will easily be able to find theirs.
For little girls, I’m loving this Ballerina design because it will double as the cutest water bottle for after school Ballet classes!

My little guy would love this golf designed water bottle so he could be just like Daddy! Seriously, another thing I love the most about Caden Lane is that even double names like my son has are easy to get personalized!

Well Fitting Sneakers
Make the investment in these too, I promise going into the school year with a great pair of VELCRO sneakers will be a win, win! I repeat buy the VELCRO ones. With 4 kids to get out the door in the mornings these are my favorite for all ages! Honestly, I’m actually buying the size up for my son and daughter as we speak because once I find sneakers that work well on their feet I just keep buying size after size.
Personalized Softest Blanket
Caden Lane is again my go to for the Nap time blanket that your school will likely need. I again love being able to personalize my littles blankets so they are easily able to find theirs at naptime. Plus these are the softest blankets and will help ensure an amazing naptime!

Hopefully this list will help you prepare for your Toddler’s first day of school. Be sure to check with your specific school on other requested items, but from my experience this list will have you over 90% of the way prepared! Mom be sure to take yourself out for a well deserved cup of coffee after dropping of your little ones on their first day! You did it!
