Pregnancy, birth, babies – they will have you spending so much money it will make your head spin! Here are some small ways to save money during pregnancy that will add up over the nine months.

Belly Band

This comfy band extends the life of your pre-pregnancy jeans by allowing you to leave them unbuttoned or even unzipped without anyone knowing what you’re doing. This trick can keep you from having to buy a whole maternity wardrobe early in pregnancy. It also offers a little extra pressure and support to your belly as it increases in size and weight.

Bralettes

Your breasts will probably grow a lot in the first few months but, trust me, they’ll be even bigger 40 weeks in and even after that if you choose to breastfeed. Bralettes are softer, comfier, and have more stretch than a traditional bra. They aren’t nearly as expensive, and a lot of them are breastfeeding-friendly! So instead of trying to guess your final bra size or buying multiple bras for all the in-between stages, just get some bralettes that can be worn throughout all the stages.

K Tape

This is a lifesaver. Maybe my favorite pregnancy hack. Kinesiology tape can help support your hips, relieve sciatica pain, keep PGP at a minimum, and offer belly support. It’s way less bulk than a full support belt and it can be hidden under any outfit. There are a lot of variations on how to apply it for different results. Just check YouTube.

Non-Maternity Clothes

Adding the word maternity to your search is just like adding the word wedding – it immediately adds to the cost. While a good pair of maternity pants are indispensable, you do not have to build an entire wardrobe of maternity wear. Opt for oversized, relaxed-fit, or stretchy non-maternity clothing instead. Your wardrobe probably already has a lot that will fit you for at least 5-6 months! Not only will this save you money, but you’ll be able to wear these same pieces during all stages of post-partum as well! If all else fails, shop your husband’s closet for oversized T’s and relaxed-fit button-downs!

Refillable Water Bottle

You don’t want to be caught out and about without water. Growing a human makes you incredibly thirsty! Lugging around 32oz of water might not sound like a lot of fun, but paying $2 for a small bottle of water doesn’t either. Fill your bottle and leave it in your car if you’re running a lot of errands.
Bonus Tip- If you get an insulated stainless steel bottle, it will keep your water cooler longer.

Don’t fall into the trap of buying up every new maternity or pregnancy product! Focus on using what you have and buying only what you need if you want to save a little dough during pregnancy.
