How does Sushi for breakfast sound?

I know you’re probably thinking, ‘what? For breakfast?’… YES! But it’s sushi with a twist!

I could eat sushi every day and be totally content. It’s our go to for nights where cooking just isn’t going to happen, and it’s probably going to be dinner tonight now that I’m thinking about it.

This is such a fun and easy thing to make with your little one and the recipe can be changed according to their (and your) preferences!

  • Start out with a banana and get it covered in your choice of yogurt, peanut butter, or honey.
  • Next, roll the banana into your favorite cereal or granola.
  • After that you can top with the fruit choice of the week, day or hour depending on your little one’s taste buds. Berries can be hard for a little one because the textures change and there’s no consistency in flavor, which is their favorite thing, so be open to hearing their requests and work with them to find what interests them that day!
  • Slice up and serve! This is the type of food that can be eaten with fingers, forks or chopsticks.

I love this snack because it’s an easy hands-on activity to work on together, you can be creative with all kinds of different ingredients (giving you lots of options)  and it’s a great opportunity to work on dexterity depending on what utensil they want to use!

What would you put on your breakfast sushi?
