Thanksgiving Play Dough Pies
Mix up some fun, aromatic play dough and make cute little play doughh thanksgiving pies while the real ones bake! I suggest making the play dough the day before so you aren’t competing for kitchen space when all the Thanksgiving cooking is going down.
Ingredients
- 1cup flour
- 1⁄2cup
salt - 2teaspoons cream of tartar
- 2teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
- 1⁄2teaspoon cinnamon
- 1tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1cup water
- food coloring (6 drops of red and 15 drops of yellow)
Pumpkin Pie Play Dough Directions
- Combine the dry ingredients in a nonstick saucepan.
- Add the oil, water, and food coloring and whisk until smooth.
- Stirring constantly with a rubber spatula, cook the mixture over medium heat until it forms a ball, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Turn the dough onto a counter, let it cool slightly, then knead the dough until it has a smooth texture, about 1 minute.
- The dough will stay fresh in a ziplock bag for up to a week.
- Add five drops of green food coloring and a teaspoon of water.
- Seal the bag, then let your tot squish the pasta around until it’s tinted. Pour the pasta onto a piece of waxed paper and let it dry for about five minutes before pressing it into your pumpkins.
Once you’ve made the play dough the real fun begins. Now get a little rolling pin and start having fun. Melissa and Doug has a cute set that can be used year after year.

Grab a big roll of craft paper and capture your family’s handprint turkey’s each year! I just snagged this craft roll on Amazon
I’ll roll it out and then use a paint brush to get paint each hand using a color scheme I select! I think it would be cute to write names, ages, and even what they are most thankful for underneath each hand. Can you imagine how cute it would be to have one from multiple years!
Be sure to get all family members involved like grandparents, aunts, and cousins! Be sure to have baby wipes ready for easy clean up and if the weather is nice this is fun to do outside on a porch!
Watch the Parade in Your Pajamas and Dance!
Watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade may not be a novel idea, but do yourself a favor and whip up some overnight oats so you can enjoy your coffee and breakfast while letting your little get their wiggles out. The trick is that every time you see a Broadway song or dance that you and your little get up and boogie to it too! Best part you can usually keep kiddos entertained long enough to drink HOT coffee, which we know is a Win Win!
