Easter will be here before you know it! You may be thinking about what you will put in your child’s Easter eggs. One of my favorite things to do with my kids is to set up an Easter egg hunt outside, or inside if the weather is bad. We used to have one every year at my grandparent’s house as a kid so I love doing it for my kids. If you want to do the same but you’ve got a baby or toddler like I do don’t worry I’ve got you covered with some great ideas of what to put in your child’s Easter eggs instead of candy.

Stickers

My toddlers LOVE stickers! Stickers are so easy to find in different characters or themes that your kid loves. The best way would be to get a big sticker book cut some out and put them in the Easter eggs – if you can find small rolls of stickers, even better. They will be a huge hit and are great for an after-Easter egg hunting activity of putting their stickers on paper or if your kids are anything like mine, on themselves or any surface around the house.

Small toys

Miniature toys, depending on size, of course, are also great Easter egg fillers. Cars, bouncy balls, and character figures are some fun ideas for your kids to play with as well. Things like keychains and bracelets or plastic rings are fun as well as easy dollar-store items that you can buy in larger amounts. The party section at most stores has things like this as well outside of the Easter theme.

Coins/Money

Always a good option and what was in our eggs growing up. If you have littles they may not appreciate it, they would prefer a toy but you could always fill a few and explain that it’s for a treat later, if they are old enough of course. You could always opt for fake money that they can play with which is always another option!

Puzzle Pieces

Another idea would be to get a puzzle and add a piece to each egg so that when you’ve found them all you can put the puzzle together. It not only fills your Easter eggs but is a fun activity after all the eggs have been found.

Snacks

If you are looking to go the food route but aren’t about all the candy, opt for some other snacks your kids love. Things like dried fruits, goldfish, cereal, granola bars, and crackers are all great ideas. Kids love snacks and having them run around finding Easter eggs may work up an appetite so it’s a win-win in my book!

Art Supplies

Crayons, markers, foam shapes, and even beads are other ideas for something that your child can create after gathering all of their Easter eggs. There are small art supply kits that you can add as well.

Handmade Items

Making your coupons/ vouchers or even jokes are great things to fill Easter eggs with. Coupons/ vouchers for free ice cream, movie night, or even a toy they choose are great options that can be used at a later time by your child.

Have fun filling your child’s Easter eggs with all the different kinds of things that they love. Skipping the candy makes it even more fun for them and you!
