From the moment you get the positive pregnancy test, you’ll quickly find out that there are a few weird pregnancy symptoms that no one really talks about. Aside from the most talked-about symptoms like morning sickness and food cravings, there are a few things that happen during pregnancy that seem to be overlooked. We’re here to spill the tea so you can be as prepared as possible for the symptoms nobody will tell you about!

1. Weird taste in your mouth
Pregnancy is often accompanied by an odd metallic or sour taste in your mouth, which is caused by higher levels of estrogen. This pregnancy symptom is thought to contribute to morning sickness early in pregnancy, but typically goes away on its own in the second trimester.
2. Involuntary urine leaks
Depending on how relaxed your bladder is and how your baby is laying, you could likely experience urine leaks. This is especially common when coughing, sneezing, or laughing. To try to combat the involuntary leaks, try doing pelvic floor exercises.
3. Leaky breasts
This pregnancy symptom might take you by surprise, and can happen at any time. This leakage, called colostrum, is actually very important as it protects your baby from infection.
4. Stuffy Nose/Congestion
No matter the time of the year, a stuffy nose and congestion is a very common occurrence throughout pregnancy. Though annoying, it is completely harmless and will go away shortly after you give birth.
5. Heightened sense of smell
Be prepared to smell everything more vividly than ever. Trash? Food? All of the above will have your nose spinning, so try to eliminate the bad smells as much as possible to avoid nausea and vomiting, especially in the first trimester.

6. Hot flashes
No matter what time of the year it is, be prepared to experience hot flashes during your pregnancy. These hot flashes often take the form of night sweats and daily hot flashes. You can blame your changing hormones for that!
7. Gas/Bloating
Arguably one of the most embarrassing and uncontrollable symptoms pregnant women experience is gas and bloating. Extra progesterone in the body is to blame for this lingering symptom.
8. Rapid hair and nail growth
It won’t be long in your pregnancy before you realize that your hair and nails are growing extra fast. Because of this, you might also have hair in unwanted places. But don’t be too worried, this rapid growth will go back to normal a few months after giving birth.
9. Excess saliva
Another common first trimester symptom is excess saliva. You might catch yourself drooling at night or having to spit out saliva at random points throughout your day. Likely a culprit of morning sickness, excess saliva typically goes away in the second trimester.
10. Crazy dreams
Get ready to dream! If you typically aren’t a nighttime dreamer, be prepared to experience some wild and vivid dreams that you remember when you wake up. These crazy dreams can last throughout your pregnancy, and can often be quite entertaining!

Who knew there were so many weird pregnancy symptoms that no one talks about?! Hopefully you are slightly more prepared to walk into pregnancy knowing the uncomfortable, embarrassing (yet rewarding) symptoms that pregnant women experience each and every day.
